A Praia da Samoqueira
It is located just 2 km from Casa Calmar and the center of Porto Covo. The low tide transforms the fine sandy beach into authentic natural pools with crystal-clear turquoise waters. The decorative rocks create a perfect natural setting! Even in summer, it's possible to find a quiet space for those looking to relax on such a paradisiacal beach. At the top of the cliff, there is a free parking lot for vehicles that gives direct access to the beach, just by going down the various staircases. Praia da Samoqueira is one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal!
Praia da Cerca Nova
It is located in a bay between Praia Grande and Praia do Salto, about 1 km from Porto Covo. It has a quiet, family atmosphere. There is ample sand and the imposing cliffs protect bathers from the wind. There is parking nearby. The descent is via a staircase.
A Praia Grande
This beach has the characteristics of an urban beach, located very close to Porto Covo. As its name suggests, it is one of the largest in the region. The beach offers permanent surveillance and is supported by a restaurant/bar overlooking the sea, as well as its own free parking lot. At high tide, Praia Grande de Porto Covo has good waves that suit all surfers and the side cliffs protect bathers from the wind.
A Praia da Ilha do Pessegueiro
It is located in front of Pessegueiro Island. It has a long stretch of sand, surveillance support in the summer months, a traditional restaurant and parking nearby. The walk is beautiful and well worth the effort! For those who don't know, Pessegueiro Island is also home to the Pessegueiro Fort, classified as a National Monument.
Praia de S. Torpes
The most popular and largest beach, with an extensive 2 km stretch of sand, is linked to the legend of São Torpes, whose martyred body is said to have ended up on its sands in the first century of the Christian era. The São Torpes raft is an ethnographic treasure from the Alentejo. It has a large parking lot and is one of the best beaches for surfing. There are also restaurants and beach facilities.
Praia do Salto (naturista)
One of Porto Covo's small beaches is Praia do Salto. Located next to Cerca Nova beach, with an atmosphere of privacy and tranquillity, it has been part of the small group of officially recognized naturist beaches in Portugal since 2002.
